During a recent layover at Portland International Airport, I had the pleasure of visiting Capers Bistro, located in the South Lobby after the security checkpoint. The establishment offers both dine-in and grab-and-go options, catering to travelers with varying schedules. Operating daily from 4:00 am to 10:00 pm, Capers Bistro ensures that passengers can enjoy quality food and beverages throughout the day. I opted for a selection of baked goods: banana bread, a cinnamon roll, and a lemon bar, accompanied by a bottle of kombucha. The cinnamon roll was delightful, featuring a soft, fluffy texture with a generous cinnamon-sugar filling and a light glaze that wasn’t overly sweet. The lemon bar offered a perfect balance of tartness and sweetness, with a buttery crust that complemented the zesty lemon filling. However, the banana bread was a disappointment. It was notably dry and lacked the moist, rich flavor one expects from this classic treat. This sentiment echoes a review I came across, where another patron described the banana bread as “so dry and terrible.” The kombucha selection was impressive, featuring a variety of local brands and flavors. The effervescent drink provided a refreshing contrast to the sweetness of the pastries. The ambiance at Capers Bistro is inviting, with a modern design that offers a comfortable respite from the bustling airport environment. For those with more time before their flight, the bistro features a wine lounge where educated servers guide patrons through a curated selection of wines, focusing on local and artisan winemakers. Service was prompt and courteous, understanding the time constraints of travelers. The staff was knowledgeable about the menu offerings and provided helpful recommendations. In summary, Capers Bistro at PDX offers a convenient and generally enjoyable dining experience for travelers. While the cinnamon roll and lemon bar were delightful, the banana bread fell short of expectations. The extensive beverage selection, including local kombucha and wines, adds to the bistro’s appeal. With its prime location and welcoming atmosphere, Capers Bistro is a worthwhile stop for those passing through Portland International Airport.

The Salmon Risotto was perfect. The bartender Erik, made me a fantastic drink. And offered fun, delightful conversation and great service Even though it was obvious they were understaffed, and I feel for them. I'll definitely be making Capers my go to when I'm traveling through PDX

Stopped by just to ask a question about the menu and the two guys at the front helped me and filled me in on the menu. Ended up with James(if I’m remembering his name right) make me some of the best short rib loaded Fritas. My guy is a legit chef! Loved the food and the interaction, especially after an overnight drive through a snowstorm to get to the airport.

The absolute best restaurant in the pdx airport. 6 mimosa, larger than the 20 mimosa down the hall. Best prices on food that is actually prepared by a chef. The picture is of empty salmon with mushroom risotto my husband and I share. Better than most in town! 20. Go!

They got 6 mimosas so what else can you ask for at PDX. The server Margarita was great. Place has nice seating and is located at the entrance to concourse B and C.

Had excellent hand-made Bloody Mary and the Breakfast bagel sandwiches are delish! 6 bucks for a mimosa! Sarah is a great fun server and if you must spend time delayed in an airport, this is a great place to do it!

The 6 mimosas are a steal! I was able to walk straight up and sit at the bar. The server was attentive and checked in on me regularly. They were friendly and a joy to speak with. For 6 each, I was impressed with the quality of the mimosa and the experience I had. While I didn't have any food or coffee this trip, I would be happy to try something next time.

If you’re in a rush ask to close out your tab immediately after ordering! The food was immaculate and the staff was extremely friendly. They have luxurious seating (with charging ports for electronics) and a lovely ambiance! They are currently running a deal on wine (3 for 50, a steal!). I highly recommend stopping by Capers Bistro when traveling through the airport (:

The ambiance strikes a perfect balance between modern sophistication and comforting warmth, making it an ideal respite from the airport's hustle and bustle. Guests can choose from a relaxed dine-in experience or opt for grab-and-go convenience, a nod to today's fast-paced travel lifestyle.

Capers Bistro's menu brims with enticing options. From the moment you approach the counter, you're bound to be captivated by their selection of freshly baked goods. Patrons have raved about the cinnamon roll, which is described as fluffy and rich, generously swirled with cinnamon-sugar and drizzled with a delicate glaze. Pair it with a bottle of local kombucha for a refreshing treat, providing an effervescent contrast to the sweet pastries.

But it’s not just the sweets that shine. Diners have applauded the savory offerings, such as the salmon risotto, which has been referred to as “perfect” and highlighted for its creamy texture and rich flavor profile. However, the outstanding service and attention to the dining experience often compensate for these minor flaws.

Moreover, what truly sets Capers Bistro apart is their commitment to culinary excellence, with a chef-driven approach that prioritizes quality ingredients and flavorful dishes made with care. The menu is crafted not only to satisfy the hunger of travelers but also to elevate the airport dining experience to new heights.
